Gallstone ileus leads to intestinal obstruction

Gallstone ileus is an uncommon condition which may lead to to intestinal obstruction and the patient presents with signs and symptoms of small intestinal obstruction. The stone may lodge at lower part of ileum.

In this condition Gallstones may pass from Gallbladder to small intestine via fistula formed between them and we can notice Gas in Gallbladder and Biliary tree by taking Abdominal X-ray.

The source of gas is fistula between Gallbladder and small intestine. This condition may be seen in middle age females with large gallstones

You can see this case as a rare thing in hospitals. The site is ileocecal junction where gall stone get lodged and cause obstruction. Air in biliary tree is useful hint in addition to obstructive symptoms
